Hi everyone. Just getting started in the O/A world of welding and I'm looking for a smaller torch like the Smith Aw1a. If anyone has one for sale let me know. Thanks.
Reply:I've bought several torches off of eBay, all very cheap compared to store prices. The most expensive one I bought was $25.00 for the Victor Journeyman and the small Victor J100 I paid $9.00 for. Neither of those prices reflect shipping, but that's usually between $8-10. The photo is what I bought in a package deal for $38.00 including shipping. Just watch and wait and you can get good buys. Reply:The problem is that I really don't know what to look for. I want a smaller lighter torch for sheetmetal work and I've read great things about the Smith torch. I keep searching ebay. Thanks.
Reply:degull,You can get that torch handle from Cyberweld.com for $98. and free shipping.Good people to deal with. You don't see the AW1A (Airline) on e-bay very often. What you do see are handles which were purchased as parts of "sets". I have that handle and really like how small it is and the fact that the controls are right where your fingers are.I also have the AW10A (Standard Duty) which really isn't much smaller than the WH100. Buying "used torches" on e-bay is really sort of a "crap shoot". There are some good deals out there, but oftentimes the handles are beat to ----. I looked for a good deal on an Airline torch for about 2 months and finally just ordered it from Cyberweld.Good luck.Syncro 250 DX Dynasty 200 DXMM 251 w/30A SG XMT 304 w/714 Feeder & Optima PulserHH187Dialarc 250 AC/DCHypertherm PM 1250Smith, Harris, Victor O/ASmith and Thermco Gas MixersAccess to a full fab shop with CNC Plasma, Water Jet, etc.
Reply:Thanks for the reply. I think that I will go ahead a buy the torch from cyberweld. Thanks for the help!
