I recently bought a Lincoln weld an power and noticed it had aluminum post.  I am to cheap to buy lugs so i make them out of scrap 1/2 inch copper pipe thats have laying around.  The galvanic scale says that's a no no.  Has anyone had bad corrosion on the welder connections because of this or am i worrying bout nothing?  Thanks, Matt

Reply:Thanks Rodger
Reply:As long as your connections are dry the rate of corrosion is slow.  I worked for a short time at a lead zinc smelter and the welding machines had steel nuts on the copper studs... Frozen solid together.  Even temperature had an effect.  Below 40 degrees F. corrosion rates fall off.  I have seen the results of stainless steel against aluminum on a sailboat returned after a season in Mexico.  I was amazed to see corrosion that would have taken over five years up here in Canada.
Reply:You mean like this? $2.20 @ the HomoDepo.
Reply:Mike your mom is hotttt.  Pipeliner no not like that.  I literally took a piece 1/2 inch plumbing pipe crimped/smashed on the ends of the welding leads, drilled a hole, and soldered the wire in the pipe.  I am cheap i wont spend the money the gas or the time it takes to go to the store if i don't have to.   Lotech I to have seen corrosion in boats from stainless rivets in aluminum hulls.  I will be looking up the paste that Rodger is talking about
