I recently got this welder and there is an AC/DC selector switch on the left side, but the decal is gone. Anyone able to tell me which position is which? I'm also experiencing an engine surge when in welding mode only- is carb cleaning the place to start? I have seen a lot of posts about surging with these (mine's a Tecumseh)but I have some trouble navigating the site to look up old posts...thanks in advance, larryoli
Reply:I imagine if you googled bluestar 2E you'd find some pics or vids showing the switch positions. As for the carb it probably just needs the main jet cleaned. I can't remember if it has the adjustable main jet. if it does it probably just needs to be turned out or ccw 1/4 turn.                                      MikeOl' Stonebreaker  "Experience is the name everyone gives to their mistakes"Hobart G-213 portableMiller 175 migMiller thunderbolt ac/dc stick Victor O/A setupMakita chop saw
Reply:Mine is DC only so I can't help on the polarity switch position. There are lots of pics online of the machines.JasonLincoln Idealarc 250 stick/tigThermal Dynamics Cutmaster 52Miller Bobcat 250Torchmate CNC tableThermal Arc Hefty 2Ironworkers Local 720
Reply:You do know you can figure it out without a picture? All you need is 6010 and you can tell what's what. One of the uses of 6010 is as a polarity check. It will weld different on DC+ than DC- and AC will stay the same if you switch cables.
Reply:You could also download a manual on Millers web page.JasonLincoln Idealarc 250 stick/tigThermal Dynamics Cutmaster 52Miller Bobcat 250Torchmate CNC tableThermal Arc Hefty 2Ironworkers Local 720

Reply:Pipeliner- I did download an owners manual, but I'm kind of guessing because my welder has a JD prefix and I don't see any with that. I just chose one that had a range of JB..... through JH.....  The manual seems to describe my welder perfectly, but I wouldn't be surprised to find small differences. Anyway the selector switch is no longer a mystery...
Reply:It appears the JD prefix was used from January - July 1983.  This should be the correct manual:http://www.millerwelds.com/om/o424a_mil.pdf
Reply:Yeah that is the exact one I downloaded. Thanks for your help.
