I have been wanting something to load heavy stuff with and this is what I came up with. I posted some pictures of this in my other thread (lets see your truck mounted cranes) while i was testing it out. Got it painted now. This is made from scrap. The square tube is 2x2x1/4 and the round tube is roughly 2"x1/4 wall ( I think it is some metric size because it came from over seas). Made the A frame out of 2X3 tube, and it just slips on the 2 short pieces of 2" welded onto the base. The inner pipe is welded to a 3/8 plate that is welded and gusseted to the sq tube. It is capped with 3/8 and a piece of 3/4 rod bout half an inch long welded on top as a pivot point. The boom is 6' long, 2x2x3/16. The jack is from HF, air over hydraulic 8ton. Still need to make a drop leg to go where the floor jack is in the photos. The end of the boom will go to 10' high. Had planned on putting a hand crank winch on the top of the boom, but I may just leave it off. Mainly wanted this just for loading this welder which I figure weighs about 750# with the cage and 75' leads Attached ImagesSafety 3rdGump

Reply:I like your lift.First time I've seen a double leg on the end, looks good Dave J.Beware of false knowledge; it is more dangerous than ignorance. ~George Bernard Shaw~ Syncro 350Invertec v250-sThermal Arc 161 and 300MM210DialarcTried being normal once, didn't take....I think it was a Tuesday.
Reply:Wow. That rascal will be handy. Good job
Reply:I see the floor jack, now I see why you mentioned a drop leg.I like it as it isn't supported a 100% by the truck nor is it straight behind the bed!Nice Job!

Reply:Looks handy. Is it just me or is it lifting the truck side leg when lifting at full extension? Pictures can play tricks sometimes.
Reply:Thanks for the comments guys. Mike, thanks for the photo tips. I will try thatForhire, yes the leg opposite the load does come off the ground which makes me a little nervous. The first time i lifted the welder with it, i only had the one eyebolt at the end of the boom which is 18" further out than the one its chained to in the pictures. She really leaned a lot when I used that eye. Not sure of the math (I'd have to have one of my boys figure the numbers  ) but lifting with the eyebolt 18" in puts a lot less stress on  the whole rigLast edited by Gump; 01-21-2014 at 06:26 PM.Reason: Cant spellSafety 3rdGump
Reply:@ Gump - Alas!  Exact approach in the worx for my TB 301G.  Looks sweet.  Really slick design and compact.  PM to follow."Discovery is to see what everybody else has seen, and to think what nobody else has thought" - Albert Szent-Gyorgyi
Reply:Could you add some pockets for some out riggers? I'd put screw jacks on the ends, like a man lift out rigger.
Reply:EXCELLENT!! Handy as a shirt pocket.
Reply:Was thinking instead of floor jack you could use a traler Jack or if you have a race car shop that sells weight jacks you could use one of those.    Then all you would need is a 1/2 ratchet to crank the screw  and there super coarse thread      Super awesome lift you built.   Hope some day to have those skills
Reply:May want to try one this this; he also has free plans on his web site.http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=-HyDDhE6CHs
