Can't decide on holder..

Thinking about the Bernard Stub nose of the Stinger V, opinions? Airgas sells a Stubnose but I'm weary buying from them, seems like harbor freight quality.
Reply:I'd skip Airgas, there are so many other options out there to buy a quality name brand electrode holder. I was just given a Lenco AF-25(not pictured in the collection pic), and so far I like it the most. I hate the Bernard Short Stub, you have to bend EVERY rod to get it straight. Reply:Hobart sells a Bernard type holder for 20 bucks.I used both over the years.Get both and decide.I like the 200 amp holders,smaller and lighter.70 bucks it way too much for a rod holder.I bought a new Lincoln 225 welder for 93 bucks in 1964.The lincoln holder that came with it is big and bulky but thats what Im used to.

Reply:tweco holders a good for about the first day, the spring gets weak.I use the Duro Holders. they hold up and last for awhile. The insulators are replaceable.
Reply:I've used the same Duros for 35 years now and they are still holding rods just fine. That little shield is worth having as well, really keeps a lot of heat off your hand as the rod gets short.
Reply:I like the 200 amp lenco's and tweco's light and easy to hold , put a ten foot flexible whip on it and it is an all day stinger . But I weld straight of the end and bend the rod ,that was how we were taught on pipe .
