As the title states I am in need of a good used Ac/Dc light duty, TIG machine. I do auto parts mainly, willing to consider anything. Someone know of a good TG that needs a home please let me know. Something like Diversion or SW200 ...or....similar brand/capacity....Many ThanksQ
Reply:Go up to the user CP and add your location. The best deal in the world is of little use if its all the way across the country from you. You might PM 7A749 here. He often gets used Tigs and refurbs them. He might know of something in your price range or at least keep an eye out for you. He can also arange shipping at good prices regardless of your location. Most of the used tigs I've seen are bigger machines. If you have the space and power, they are super deals. You get a lot more machine, usually at a cheaper price. The smaller machines seem to still be holding their values..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:Thnxx for the info, Yes I am seeing that the heavier machines are much cheaper. Which is OK as I will be running new power to a new shop building. I'm willing to go and pickup a larger machine anyways. Again many thnxx..
Reply:I would check the local Craig's List used tools listings. I see used older large transformer tig machines all the time in there for cheap. There's not much that goes wrong with the big old beasts and they last forever. If you have the power, dont need the portability and aren't bent on having the latest electronic features, the old machines can be a great deal. Steve does do very nice refurb work on the old Millers. Check out his picture posts. If you want a nice rebuilt machine, he's the one to check with. Bring a shop crane and a trailer or a truck with a low bed height when you go pick it up cause these beasts are heavy! Reply:thnxx guys....yes I see the older machines are just about everywhere. The newer inverter machines dont seem to ever be for sale. I guess they are good and one wants to part with them. |
