Maybe it's just late on a miserable rainy day, but I seem to remember seeing somewhere about a common problem that made Procon pumps noisy, and now I can't find it.  Can anyone point me to that information, or maybe just a rebuild kit?  Back story:Unit seems low hours and in very good shape.  But it had been left sitting for a year or so, and when the PO started to demo the unit, it ingested a bunch of algae clumps, you could see it moving up the line, and it got real loud.  So we/I figured it just needed flushing and unplugged it for the try out. I finally got around to setting it up tonight and even after disassembly and cleaning, including pressure back flush, that darn thing is still very noisy, unacceptably so.  I did crack a line to check, and it is flowing well, just very noisy.Thanks...
Reply:I don't know what the rebuild kits cost but I got a complete rebuilt pump off of ebay for very reasonable, no core charge.
Reply:Procon pumps are usually very reasonable on eBay. I bought several of them for spares when I was rebuilding my Bernard 2500. I paid no more than 30 for any of them. The double shaft motor on my Bernard was shot when I got it so I replaced it with a motor for Procon use. It has a single shaft so there was no way to drive the fan. I installed a 5" 120V cube type fan that runs whenever the pump is running. It runs nice and cool. Anyway, it's not really cost-effective to rebuild a Procon since the kits often cost as much as a new surplus pump.Miller Millermatic 252Miller Syncrowave 200Liincoln AC-DC 225Victor O-A Set
Reply:To the OP. Please take a pic of the pump. I do not think Bernard coolers come with Procon pump. They have oberforfer pumps which have a gear type pump (straight cut gears) which make it loud. Ask me how I know. I have rebuilt my oberforger pump last year ($$) and it was a little bid quieter but not by much. When rebuilding it I also put an inline gauge in to set the pressure (oberforfers are adjustable) to about 40psi. I also take a glance at the gauge once in a while to make sure I am cooling my torch.T.J.www.tjsperformance.comDynasty 300 DXHTP 240HTP Microcut 380Hyperthem 85JD2 Hyd Bender and HF Hyd Ring Roller all in one =(Frankenbender)Bpt. Reply:It is definitely Procon, says so right on the end cap.And I found the problem.  I found a troubleshooting guide that listed 2 possible reasons that looked particularly promising.   High resistance caused by screen restriction was one.  Looks like power back flushing wasn't enough. Now that I knew it was there, I removed the screen and could clearly see there was still algae in there.  So I took a small soft brush and cleaned it thoroughly, plenty of gunk came out, so definitely improved.  The other likely reason was slight misalignment of the single slot/tab drive.  Having it partly disassembled for cleaning (not to mention transport) could have gotten I slightly misaligned, so I carefully reseated it.  Plugged it up again, and it is much quieter now.  Thanks for the suggestions, I'll keep them in mind for the future.  Hopefully the dirty screen won't contaminate my new coolant.
Reply:Sounds good. Wish mine had a Procon pump. A conversion might be in my futur to one.www.tjsperformance.comDynasty 300 DXHTP 240HTP Microcut 380Hyperthem 85JD2 Hyd Bender and HF Hyd Ring Roller all in one =(Frankenbender)Bpt.
