Previously asked about a comparison of the Lincoln AC and the AC/DC buzz boxes but this is a little more specific. Does the AC function in the AC/DC function the same/as well as the AC only buzz box? Are the AC functions the same in both models?thanks, Brian
Reply:Far as I can tell and I've welded with both on "AC," YES to your question. With the AC/DC version, Lincoln just added a DC rectifier to it, which doesn't change anything while operating in "AC" mode.Lincoln Power Mig 216Lincoln AC/DC-225/125Miller 625 X-Treme PlasmaMiller 211 Forney 95FI-A 301HF 91110Victor Journeyman O/PMilwaukee DaytonMakita Baileigh NRA Life Member
Reply:I agree, ive got an AC, and just finished an AC/DC restored and tested. The AC doesn't seem any different on either one.JobSmart MIG125Lincoln AC225-SLincoln Pro-Mig 175Dewalt GrindersRidgid ChopsawIR Garage Mate CompressorAny thing worth doing, is worth doing right.
Reply:+1. Those Lincoln's are really very simple internally and the only difference as pointed out already is the rectifier and some wiring. AC on the 225 is the same as AC on the 225-125 model.
