Ok I am going to use this post to make a journal of my climb back into welding after my 15 year break. The first thing I plan on doing is starting at basics again. I will start with plates for my first part. Both mig and stick, I have never been into tig. My plan is to run as much as possible, I will then do my own bend test, once I can succeed and fell comfortable with the plate I will move on to pipe and repeat process until I feel the old rust is off of me!As I work on different things I will posts them here along with a couple of photos. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated don't be bashful!

Reply:Opened a business that allowed me to stay home more, now I am just wanting to get back into welding because I feel it is something I loved doing and I miss it.Does anybody have any plans or ideas on building my own bend test?
Reply:Today my goal is to go out to my old shop and dig everything out. I have some old cutting tourches, mig machines an etc... I will take a few photos and post them here in the forum. Because my things have been put up for 15 years I will have to check everything out. I am sure I will have my regulators rebuilt or reconditioned. I also need to get cylinders filled. To be fair in this post I have purchased some stuff in the 15 years, when I came across them at yard sales or cheaply at pawn shops. Today will also be a day I look at what scrap I have left over, that I want to practice on.
Reply:Ok went and took stock of what I have laying out in the shop. These are items I have just laying around not really put up. Sorry they are not rotated right. I am new to these forums. The machine I picked up at an auction last week. It runs great and came on a trailer. I got a GREAT deal on it!The other is one of my sandblasters. Then of course a drill press. Attached Images
Reply:More of my sandblasting tools. Attached Images
Reply:I have a whole lot more tools and a few machines. Some of them have been outside under a covered area. My shop is covered. I have some shipping containers that I can't find the keys to. I might have to cut the locks to them. I know I have a lot more stuff in there including misc items. Looking at the shop today, I think it will be a lot of work to get everything together and cleaned up but worth it in the end!

Reply:My bend test i'm doing in school is 3/8ths plate with a 1/4 backing bar the plates are 7 inches long and 4 inches wide we run a 1/4 inch gap between each plate. I don't know if this is an AWS spec or if its just what my school uses but it's a good starting place I think.Lincoln pro core 125 14''chop saw7 inch grinder,2-4.5 inch grinders, electric die grinder.Half inch drillAnd alot of hand tools
