I need a press. I've spent around a couple hundred over the last year having the machine shop do it. Piston pins, bearings, rear ends. Nothing too big. And now I'm needing it more often. I almost bought a 12 ton HF press earlier today but it just seems a bit wobbly. The 20 ton looks better but for not too much more I could have a Dake B10. It's only got a 16" max depth but I'm curious if anyone here has been using it in automotive apps. I may just bite the bullet and get a Dake F10 (38" depth) but if the B10 will work I don't mind shelling out the dough for a better tool.Anyone with direct experience with either of these units?
Reply:Looks like a good little press.I have an old porto-power setup I'll see if I can post up later. Some maintenance and auto shops set these, (link below) mounted up on roll around tables. OTC makes them too, very portable and handy.http://www.enerpac.com/en/products/p...-clamp-pressesMatt
Reply:Got the pics of the Porto Power. The cylinder can be mounted through the top allowing 24" inside hight.I also found a link to the little OTC, they also make a pretty neat mini H-frame press.http://www.otctools.com/products/10-...ty_bench_pressMatt Attached Images
Reply:I know the feeling about paying for something you can do. I had one sitting in the corner unfinished and needed it so its done now. I do need a little bigger jack sometime...Bob Attached ImagesBob WrightSalem, Ohio Birthplace of the Silver & Deming Drillhttp://groups.yahoo.com/group/southbend10k/http://groups.yahoo.com/group/sawking/1999 Miller MM185 w/ Miller 185 Spoolmate spoolgun
Reply:Bob, keep your eyes open for one of these puller jacks below,http://www.otctools.com/products/17-...lic_puller_setThe jack can be used upside down in a press frame with adjustable screw like this press,http://www.otctools.com/products/17-...hroat%94_pressI still like the toolholder on that press you builtMatt
Reply:I like the OTC stuff but it's more than twice the price of the Dake. It needs to be either a bench model or something with a smaller footprint. Space is at a premium.
