Looking for pipeliner or huntsman, with ability to change to a glass lense and a fixed shade without an adapter. Also, is shade 5 (uvex hardcoat side shielded safety glasses) I use to look at the forge, the same as shade 5 for grinding or welding?I would like to wear some degree of shaded lense goggles or safety glasses , under my hood. So , if I forget to put my hood down inplace, and I get arc flashed before I can pull it down, my eyes will have some protection from the UV n the IR. any help is appreciated. Raf
Reply:If you try wearing shaded lenses under your hood while welding, your not likely to be seeing much of what your trying to weld. It won't take many times getting flashed to where you will remember to put your hood down before striking an arc. It only takes a nod of the head to get it to drop in most cases.
Reply:Or just go with an autodarkening hood. You aren't admitting to being less manly or skilled when you choose to use an AD.Hobart LX235Victor 250 Oxy-Acetylene Rig (welding and cutting)Bobcat 773F-350, 1999, 4x4, 16' 10K# trailerOutdoor Wood Burner - 10 cords/year
