Bought a Bernard 2502ss cooler as part of another deal.  The cooler is a 230 Volt unit with a Procon pump.  Now here is the dumb question. I read specs on the net that said 115/230 Volts???   Has anyone run one of these on 115 even though it says 230 on the unit???  Hate to have a separate outlet for 230 (220) for just the pump.  I guess I could just buy a 115 volt pump and replace the one that is in there.  Any input is appreciated.  Thanks
Reply:I was thinking..IF this will not run on 115 volts I know it is not a pump issue it is a motor issue and then I would need a motor.  Any ideas where to get one???  Guess it would have the shaft running out the front for the fan and the rear for the pump. Thanks again for any input.
Reply:They may be dual voltage motors, like on well pumps. If they are, there is prob. some jumpers you can switch over to change input voltage. I don't have one so I can't answer for sure if they are or not.Airco Ac/Dc 300 HeliwelderMillerMatic 200 (stolen)Miller Maxstar 150STLMiller AEAD200LE (welding and generating power) Hobart MIG
Reply:There are two seperate motors listed for that cooler. One is a 115v motor the other is 220v. There is a possibility that it is just a matter of changing the connections in the motor. Worst case would be having to replace the motor. The motor is Weldcraft part number 3429 sells for 285 on miller4less.com.Mike
Reply:I bought a used Bernard cooler and the motor was bad.  Not wanting to spend $200 on it, I removed the armature and cut off the last few inches where it mates to the Procon pump.  I found a new GE motor on ebay for $40 and removed the armature from it as well.  Chucked the new armature in the lathe and center drilled it about an inch deep on the back end that didn't stick out of the motor.  I chucked the part of the armature I cut off the old one and turned the last inch of it down to fit inside the hole I just drilled in the new armature.  Tapped it into place and tigged it at the joint.  Checked for runout while it was in the lathe and it was acceptable.  The factory end of the new armature was used to drive the cooling fan.  I have been using my repaired Bernard for over 5 years now with no problems.  To get to the OP's original question, I am pretty sure the original motors would work at either voltage once the jumpers are changed in the rear of the motor.Miller Syncrowave 350Millermatic 252/ 30A spoolgunMiller Bobcat 225g w/ 3545 spoolgunLincoln PowerArc4000Lincoln 175 Mig  Lincoln 135 Mig Everlast 250EX TigCentury ac/dc 230 amp stickVictor O/AHypertherm 1000 plasma
Reply:Look on the actual motor.  It may show a diagram to change wiring/jumpers to make it a 110v motor, but why would you want to?They don't draw much amperage.   I have my 230V CM3 and Arcmaster wired into a 5 inch metal box with one outlet cord.  I plug it in and run both with no problem.  Making it 110 is a PITA.  I had that with my Dynasty 200 and CM1.  I'd have to run 2 different extension cords to the welder.TA Arcmaster 300CM3XMT 304S22P12 suitcase feederX-Treme 12VSOptima pulserTA161SMaxstar 150STLHypertherm PM45OP setupStihl 020AVP, 039, 066 Magnum
Reply:Thanks to all for the input.  Did what I should have done to begin with.  Took the cover off and it is a dual voltage motor. It is made by GE Model number 5KH32GN5637X.  One would think that the label on the cooler would say it was possible to switch jumpers and make it 115 Volts.  Guess everything has to be a mystery.  Anyway thanks again.
