Reply:Thanks, I didn't weigh it but I think it's about 18 pounds. I used duplicolor bed liner paint with a regular smooth roller and also their spray on in the can. It turned out to be a semi smooth finish not as rough as using the roller that comes with the kit. I did not like the paint when I was painting it because it kinda gets gummy if you don't go fast enough. I did not prime it.the only place that has come off is on the railing. That's because I forgot to sand it good as it is emt conduit.I used 18 gage sheet metal and bent most of it on my ten foot trim brake. I welded with my miller 251 mig solid core.the welds looked best if I did it all down hill. I ended up polishing them down any where I could anyway.I figured up the price to build it this morning. Around 60.00 for 4x10x18 ga sheet metal and all the paint and hardware close to 200.00. I was lucky to have all that I needed at the shop,( leftovers) except for paint it took two spray cans and one quart of roll on paint-40.00 And about 20.00 worth of weatherstrip. So I got 60.00 in it.I used j-bolts to bolt it down to the rack using long 1/4inch bolts that I put heat shrink on after I bent to kinda protect it from digging in on the brand new racks.Miller trailblazer301gLincoln sa200Miller251Miller spectrum 625Victor oxy-acc2002 Chevy duramax 3500 dually 4x4

Reply:Blackbeard I think you have a winner.  Once you can get orders for 10 to 15 of those you can  perhaps build some jigs and save some time along with maybe getting quantity  pricing on materials.  Good luck .

Reply:pulling the front up is nice and all, but you've got to counter balance the high weight of the box and rear bumper for steep accents. I'd stick with steel personally. that way you're not likely to go over backwards when you're on the gas going up a hill.There are no problems. There are only solutions.
