I have seen various templates used with woodworking routers for making signs etc.Like this : http://www.rockler.com/product.cfm?page=22179Do you think it would work with a plasma cutter?  I have a Hypertherm Powermax 45.I guess it would depend on what the template material is made out of and how long it would take for the heat to damage the template.
Reply:I make all my templates from .25" aluminum. Some I have used 100's of time and they are still working great. I waterjet cut all mine so I know they are exactly how I want them.If you cannot convince them, confuse them.         Harry S Truman
Reply:I think wood would be pretty durable.  If you go to youtube, you can see some using cardboard templates for plasma cutting and they survive fine (the video I recall is from dope's customs)The Lord has declared, "This is my work and my glory--to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man"  Moses 1:39Link: My name is John, and I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.-- ColdCreekWorks.com --
Reply:I use 1/8" steel sheet. Cheap and durable. Plywood works too. Just measure the center to edge distance of your tip to compensate for getting the size right. I use a big "c" vice grip to clamp it down. My templates are postives though. (cutting around the outside of the shape)200amp Air Liquide MIG, Hypertherm Plasma, Harris torches, Optrel helmet, Makita angle grinders, Pre-China Delta chop saw and belt sander, Miller leathers, shop made jigs etc, North- welders backpack.
Reply:I guess I could just buy the router templates and then use them to make wood templates for the plasma.Unless of course Silverado would like to make me a set of letters/numbers out of aluminum and ship them to Ontario???

Reply:I cut them for people all the time, I have so many drops I usually have something large enough to do anything. What do you need, all 0-9 and A-Z. I have a few different fonts that are all designed for cutting with no centers. (nothing that drops out when you cut it)If you cannot convince them, confuse them.         Harry S Truman
Reply:I'm interested.  PM sent.
Reply:i was just wondering if you could post the fonts that your using 500hpsilverado? it would be greatly appreciated thanks Ryan_______________________OF COURSE I DON'T LOOK BUSY... I DID IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME
Reply:I have used Corian with good success. It's pricey to go out and buy it, but I had some left sitting around from an old job. It cuts easy with woodworking tools, and stands up to the heat well. Non-conductive too! A counter-top guy in your area probably has a ton of scraps laying around he'd give away.
