I just saw a shirt thread and saw someone mention starch.I personally don't starch my shirts. It makes them sticky when I sweat (which is a huge pain in a high-humidity climate) and it also leaves a nasty crust on my iron that tries to break off and get rubbed into my clothes. That having been said, a lot of people seem to love the stuff. So, starch or not?
Reply:A lot of things are "ok" to do and starch is ok in MODERATION! I bought the shirt and it was heavy starched. I personally don't starch all my welding shirts constantly. I starch them every so often to put the stiffness back in them.
Reply:hmmm what would I starch to make stiff...................lmaoOf all the things I lost I miss my mind the most...I know just enough about everything to be dangerous......You cant cure stupid..only kill it...
Reply:if only it had the same magical powers on other "stuff" rofl

Reply:In my experience starch will make your shirt last longer.  I won't wear a heavily starched shirt but light to medium is ok.  I don't know if starch helps with sparks.  I've never set a shirt on fire just a few pair of pants and of course the pine straw in my yard.
Reply:Starch..Potatoes..Peas..Yams...Parsnips..Rice..Pasta...Pumpkin..Squash..Zucchini...Good starch examples. There is no starch when it comes to clothes.......zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:I will agree with mla2ofus.Last starched anything I wore was probably 2007.  Army for me.  I don't miss it one bit.Eastwood 135 mig welderHobart Stickmate LX 235 AC / 160 DCHobart EX Tig 165
Reply:starch does help them maintain their flame resistance, also helps keep wrinkles out that trap sparks and slag.    With that said, none for me, to lazyVantage 500's LN-25's, VI-400's, cobramatics, Miller migs, synch 350 LX, Powcon inverters, XMT's, 250 Ton Acurrpress 12' brake, 1/4" 10' Atlantic shear,Koikie plasma table W/ esab plasmas. marvel & hyd-mech saws, pirrana & metal muncher punches.
Reply:Was always starched while stateside active duty.  Deployed there was zero starch, post active duty, I let the cleaner do what they will on my dress clothes, but everything else is wash and wear, Under Armor Polo's need nothing...   Just NOT anywhere near a welder.
Reply:I starch my green welding jackets. Makes them last longer. Also they stay cleaner longer.Dave.
