anybody want to tackle a forklift problem I'm sure a lot of u guys have a forklift...I have a small Hyster, old but starts and runs great, (LP)  It has not been used in about a month, it's stored inside, but it has been very humid this month.... today i had  to take a 2,200 lb. thing off my trailer. I fire up the Hyster and try to put it into gear, GRRRRRRR. all it does is grind, the clutch is not releasing, at all.... peddle fells normal, springie, all linkage look and feels good, but it will not release, i can start it in gear but then i take off, (not good when in the garage) any ideas???
Reply:1awert1 - The clutch disc is stuck to the cover or flywheel. It's a typical scenario with a Hyster oil clutch. I don't know what the cause is, I suspect that water in the hydraulic oil has something to do with it.Usually the MO is to start the the truck with the shuttle engaged and the transmission in the highest gear and then lug it free. Or run it until the oil is warm (working the hydraulics warms the oil quickly) and then starting with the shuttle in gear and the trans in neutral try to pull it into one of the synchronized gears. As soon as it breaks loose it'll be good to go ‘till next time; which could be a long time.Good LuckLast edited by denrep; 08-20-2010 at 11:12 PM.
Reply:I will give it hell in the morning, I can't help to fell the humidity and temp around has something to do with it.
Reply:10 points for denrep (Alfred E. Newman)  5 minutes of driving around the garage (wife thinks i lost it) and it's back to normal. Thanks..........
Reply:Everyone's pretty sure denrep learned everything he knows from Alfred although occassionally they do bounce things off each other to get through a project.MM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base!
Reply:yup that will fix er up.... my old chevy dump does that if it sits  for a couple years or so pain in the butt is good it worked for yaLincoln 225 Tombstone,Miller Big 20,Hobart 180,150' Argon,A/D hobart hood 22 Ton Log splitter,79 F350 dump eats 4.75 TONS and still turns cutters, grinders,And a  Hypertherm POWERMAX 30
Reply:If it IS water in the oil, let it sit over night and open the drain on the bottom of the tank(if there is one). The water should settle to the bottom and fall out. Then put the plug back in when it changes color.
Reply:Sometimes you can have the same prob with a bike that's sat over the winter, same solution as Denrep's although it's a bit more fun :-).....Mike
