I got the right CK torch with the superflex cable and it is really nice. I am paranoid about dragging my cables across the driveway so went to the LWS to pick up another nylon zipper cable cover. On the way there I stopped at a local electrical surplus store and they had some expandable nylon sleeve. It came in all sizes from 3/8" - 2" I.D. The 3/4" I.D. expanded to fit over the gas fitting and when pulled tight was almost no bigger then the torch cable. The great thing is you don't loose any flexibility and it was very cheap $0.60/ft. After putting it on I'm now thinking of putting it on some of my other leads. Not sure how flame retardant this stuff is (sure it can be found in f.r.) but it prevents abrasion damage. Can post pics if needed.TOO MANY TOOLS & NO MORE SPACE
Reply:Sounds like a good idea. Lets see some pictures.

Reply:Yea that is pretty slick. I like that you can expand it and then pull it tight. Who makes that? I have the tech-flex sleeve and those are flexible as well.

Reply:The stuff covering that my electric supply house has is pretty thin, I dont think it would hold up very good to heavy use, but would probably work well enough for hobbyists.. I guess if it's cheap enough you could double it up..tackleexperts.comwww.necessityjigs.comhttps://www.facebook.com/groups/mach...dingequipment/
Reply:I got some of it that was high heat rated. It is black with a blue chaser. I ran water pipe foam insulation over my leads and then ran this stuffover that. I have some clumsy guys in the shop that have crushed my plasma torch hose/line. This protects it,but it still is not very resistant to melting . I would recommend it. I spent like ten dollars protecting each of my machines leads, but it is no replacement for leather wraps when it comes to protection from heat and abrasion. |
