I've been using structural firefighting gloves for learning to weld, but they cost $80 and i've already ruined a pair by keeping the finger touching the metal. (rookie errors )Anyway, all the hardware stores around me that carry welding gloves only seem to carry 1 universal size that is usually too big on me. I Would like a pretty tight fit I imagine same as any other glove. What size are these gloves? If I go online to order a pair in a different size, I obviously cant try them on beforehand. Any suggestions on a good pair of gloves under $30 while we are at it? I was looking at these (mostly price based)http://www.amazon.com/Lincoln-Electr...welding+gloves
Reply:80 bucks? wow! the stick welding gloves i been using for the longest come in one size fits all. maybe the thin tig gloves from tillman come in various sizes. i would suggest going to the lws once to try them on then order online if you must.i.u.o.e. # 15queens, ny and sunny fla
Reply:Most of the time I just use regular leather work gloves.I only use the long cuffed gloves when I'm overhead so the sparks don't go down my sleeves.Dave J.Beware of false knowledge; it is more dangerous than ignorance. ~George Bernard Shaw~ Syncro 350Invertec v250-sThermal Arc 161 and 300MM210DialarcTried being normal once, didn't take....I think it was a Tuesday.
Reply:I think all the stick gloves I have found are large or extra large. Never been a problem wearing large, stick welding you don't need tight fitting gloves most of the time. If some spatter drops into the glove you will be happy they aren't tight, lets you remove them fast.Airco Ac/Dc 300 HeliwelderMillerMatic 200 (stolen)Miller Maxstar 150STLMiller AEAD200LE (welding and generating power) Hobart MIG

Reply:Originally Posted by BrooklynBravestLol, yea firefighting gloves go from around $40-$150 depending on how crazy you get. You only get one pair of hands... but anyway, I really don't ever do anything overhead and I highly doubt with my small 110v machine that I ever will any time soon. I'm just a hobbyist in my garage on a workbench.
Reply:I suggest you stay away from black gloves, your hands will get really hot in them. Most of my career I used these. Good for anything from tying iron to brushing your teeth.  Attached ImagesDon’t pay any attention to meI’m just a hobbyist!CarlDynasty 300V350-Pro w/pulseSG Spool gun1937 IdealArc-300PowerArc 200ST3 SA-200sVantage 400
Reply:If all you have is a 120v mig just pick up leather work gloves at the box store of choice.Stay away from anything that has synthetics in it though- some are a mix of leather and nylon.Ed Conleyhttp://www.screamingbroccoli.com/MM252MM211 (Sold)Passport Plus & Spool gunLincoln SP135 Plus- (Gone to a good home)Klutch 120v Plasma cutterSO 2020 benderBeer in the fridge
Reply:Make sure whatever you get has Kevlar thread. I have a hard time finding gloves big enough. I usally see large and x-large. I don't know where they come up with these sizes ,must be an Asian thing. I would hate to see what medium and small are, probably wouldn't fit a 10 year old .Miller xmt304,  Miller S22 p12, Miier Maxstar SD, Miller 252 w 30A, Miller super32p12, Lincoln Ranger 9, Thermal Arc 181I with spoolgun, Hypertherm 10000 ,Smith torches. Reply:i bought a set of tillmans at air gas a couple weeks ago that are heavy enough to stick weld with in size medium.  they were a little more expensive than the one size fits all  gloves but worth it to me.  they cheap gloves always seemed to big for me as well and the mediums fir really well.
Reply:I buy my gloves at harbor freight for about $4.00 a pair and they last longer than any other gloves I have tried. stay away from tractor supply Hobart gloves they are junk in my opinionLincoln 225 ac (my first machine)farmhand 115vac 70amp mig/fc toymiller aead 200le (my main machine)
Reply:Internet search should find you any size you need, Our local hardware store has them from Med to XXXL for the Andre the Giant sized guys around here.
Reply:Any glove will burn up if you get close to 1200 degrees.......I use Miller Tig Gloves and they are really nice. I can pick up a piece of 1/16 filler their so flexible and yet really heat resistant....Cheap too I think I paid 24 bucks for my last pair.....I'm sure they wouldn't be my choice for Outter shield welding but nothing holds up long with that heat......... https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/i...hIlj7seR0adFDELast edited by B_C; 12-27-2013 at 01:51 PM.  Miller Dynasty 350Twenty Six HammersThree Crow BarsBig Rock

Reply:Saw a recommendation for these on some bike builder's website.http://m.mscdirect.com/mobileweb/pro...tedParts=falseJust received them. If your hands are REALLY big they will not fit. Otherwise they seem like a cheap solution for tig.
Reply:I went with miller arc armor in medium and they ended up fitting perfect. $18 shipped.
