WTB: Miller Syncrowave TIG

looking for an inexpensive, turn key machine as this will be my first.i dont mind buying a gas cylinder or torch or simple things like that if need be, but i expect price to reflect that.know my budget may be a long shot, but budget, definately under $2000ideally under $1500TIAMike
Reply:When I bought my Syncro 200 last year I paid a bit over $1800 without the tank. The unit came with the torch, reg and a few consumables. I got the base unit as opposed to the "tig runner" package. All it included for an extra $200 was the cart. If you shop around I would say you should be able to find a similar unit to the one I got, for less than $1900 on line. I found the best price I could and then went and talked to my LWS to see how much room they had to manuver on price. One thing that I found was that the price they were quoting was for the tig runner rather than the base unit. They could order the base unit and get me close to the online price, but I'd have to wait a few days for their regular shipment. Since I'd rather pay a small bit more and buy local (and told them so) I got it from them..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Reply:thanks for the input! i've been looking, found a nice deal on a 250dx power source, although i have no idea what the addition of powersource means. price was $1k. I sent an email there to see what else was included at that price.anyways, i'm still shopping.anyone on the east coast, and most east of the mississippi feel free to post. I have a good friend that's a trucker that gets around, he'd be more than willing to load it up in his rig for me. (esp. since this machine will benefit his racecar build as well)
Reply:If that was a Craigslist ad from a tool liquidator claiming to be in IL it's a scam.  They had stupid low prices on Powermax 30 and 200DX.  A  grand for a 200DX with no torch or cabling (that is typically what a power source only is) is still a screaming deal, it lists at 3500 and is about 2900 brand new.  As DSW says you can find a syncro 200 for around a couple grand, new with warranty.  I've been looking used for tigs but like with my plasma, I may just have to buy new.  The big name machines hold resale value quite well.DaveOn edit, Opps, assumed you were talking about a Dynasty 200DX, not Syncrowave.Last edited by dstevens; 12-28-2009 at 06:10 PM.
Reply:Powersource, usually just means the bare machine. You would still need a torch, consumables (collet, cup, body, tungsten etc), ground clamp, water cooler if getting a water cooled torch, footpedal or hand remote, reg and gas hose, bottle etc.You might PM 7A749 here. Steve usually has some nice rebuilt older tig machines. The down side is usually they are heavy so shipping is an isssue, but with your friend, that may not matter. A lot of guys chevk CL on a regular basis and if they knew where you were at, they might also post up links like racerbob340 did.That machine looks like it might be a decent deal. Reply:I want to say that craigslist ad is the same as the one posted on here. either way emailed the guy on here and replied to craigslist posting. I'd love to get that machine. I'm in North Jersey but usually venture all over the tri state area, big family, college friends etc.I'll update my cp in the morning. Going back to sleep! I knew there was a reason I'd wake in the middle of the night!
