Here's a spring rate tester I put together.  Has a Wixey height readout made for a router table and a load cell I got off of eBay.  Powdercoated it with some sparkly blue I had for another project. Thermal Arc Fabricator 281Miller 350PMiller Syncrowave 200Lincoln ProCut-55Jackson NexGen

Reply:That is a beautiful thing! Am I to assume it's for testing automotive springs? And if so...why? Could you further enlighten some of us unenlightened? Reply:Yup, it's for automotive springs.  I work in a race shop and a lot of the time the spring rate marking gets worn off the spring and this little machine will give the spring rate, usually in lbs/in or kgs/cm.  There's quite a few available for purchase, but I couldn't bring myself to spend $900 for one.Thermal Arc Fabricator 281Miller 350PMiller Syncrowave 200Lincoln ProCut-55Jackson NexGen

Reply:B.S! js;you made that? looks like store bought.  great build. btw, why would you need to know how strong that spring is? sorry just read the above post that answered my question. again, nice work.Last edited by docwelder; 03-02-2014 at 06:38 PM.i.u.o.e. # 15queens, ny and sunny fla

Reply:what is the length range on springs you are able to test and how would you measure progressive springs?  Looks great.Multimatic 200Ellis 1800Haberle S225 9" cold sawMM 300;  Spoolmate 30A w/ WC-24TB 302GDynasty 280 DX Tigrunner

Reply:Good job. Has a very "Professionally built" kind of look to it.so all the measurements are electronic/digital readout?Would it be worthwhile to use a micro controller like an Arduino to integrate the readings to just readout the rate?Don't talk about it, Just do it!
