dent in bumper chrome bumper repair

I have a dent in my trucks bumper because some (fill in the blank with every rude swear word) hit it in a parking lot while I was in school well i'm gonna repair in and I was wonder which do you think would be easier to hammer it out or fill the hole with weld and sand down? I'm leaning towards the hammering aspect because its chrome and i'm not sure if my mild steel filler metal will blend  in nicely with the chrome. Reply:What year and kind of truck? Do you have a pic of the dent?
Reply:Welding will not be a good option because it will burn and discolor the surrounding chrome. Hammering from the back is a better option but there is a risk that the chrome plating will crack. If you decide to hammer it, use a urethane dead-blow hammer and a wooden support.JohnA few weldersA lot of hammersA whole lot of C-clamps
Reply:Hydraulic press, put some carpet or heavy fabric under the surface to keep the chrome from scratching.
Reply:Build a stout steel bumper and dare them to run into it again.  All it mught do is chip the paint, although theirs might suffer way worse.
Reply:You may find some reinforcements or support structure behind the bumper making it difficult to hammer out.If you don't want to stand behind our Troops, feel free to stand in front of them.
