Hey all- wondering if anyone can tell me what to expect for brush life on a 300D. I run at high idle always for better arc starting... not sure if that lessens the life of brushes???Currently with about 1900 hrs on this puppy. It welds well but I'll randomly lose the arc- I can tell it's not my rod proximity... would that be because of the brushes?Any help would be appreciated.Classic 300D (Perkins)PowerMIG 255xtPrecision TIG 275"You are responsible for that puddle."

Reply:Lol the more posts you put up the different "titles" you get. I just bought a SAE400 at an auction and haven't had the opportunity to start welding on it continuously. Just a quick fire it up and make sure it burns a rod. It has the Perkins in it as well. I am not a guru on these machines, just know preventative maintenance. I use machines offshore ranging from 250's to 400's. We have had a few Red-D-Arc 300K's come out. And a Lincoln 300D a time or two. But we just welded with them. There are a few guys that can tell you what you need to know. I would put this thread in Lincoln forum. You will get better hits on the subject. Duaneb55, gundog77, gizzardgutz. All very good at troubleshooting with these machines.
