I tried LWS last week and a couple of online sources but no luck. Am I overlooking obvious sources for these? They are the set screw for the cable and screw for the handle for Tweco connectors - I need two of each.
Reply:You may not be able to purchase those on their own, at least from Tweco. I'll bet the setscrew is pretty standard, and for the handle I'd just use a SHCS of similar size....

Reply:That set screw would be a standard hardware store item, with the exception that since it is going in against copper wire it doesn't need the needle point or sharp cutting edge the two standard type set screws have. More of a ball end. You could mount it up on an allen wrench and flap wheel or sand paper the sharpness off the end real quick. That screw is no doubt a specialty item but you could sustitute for it real quick by simply going to the allen head type screws of the same size. That would give you the tall head you need. The furnished screw is probably el cheepo soft, the allen head type would be higher quality that needed but we're only talking pennies here anyway.Last edited by Sandy; 01-05-2014 at 02:21 PM.Reason: "replicate" was the wrong word."The things that will destroy America are prosperity at any price, peace at any price, safety first instead of duty first, the love of soft living and the get rich quick theory of life." -Theodore Roosevelt

Reply:Well, they can be had. Thanks to Welding Supply. The cable screw 2040-2044 is now 9940-2100. The handle screw # is still the same. |
