Reply:Those were all done with self shielded flux core?
Reply:The 10-feet diameter pipe was welded with dual shield. 100% x-ray. All the other work was done with self shielded flux core. To weld the 10-feet pipe we needed a tent. Reply:We use DualShield fill and cap on our smaller pipe.
Reply:Pipe spool fabrication shops and offshore yards on the Gulf Coast run gas shielded flux cored all the time.  Self shielded fluxcore is still pretty much limited to structural work in the states.Overseas you can find oil and gas pipelines welded with self shielded flux core; mostly on tie-ins and in terrain where the mechanized pipe bugs can't be used.Benson's Mobile Welding - Dayton, OH metro area - AWS Certified Welding Inspector
