I have a weldanpower 225 g7. I got it and the guy took it all apart and now I got it back together. The governor bracket keeps the carb at wide open. Is this normal or am I missing some thing. And is there any place to get parts for this machine? And is there anything I should watch out for? Thank in advance.
Reply:What motor? Briggs or Onan? You will have to get an engine manual from the engine manufacturer. Lincoln only has a manual for the rest of the machine I believe. Reply:It's the Briggs. I have a manual for it but it seems like it shouldn't be in wide open. I don't know I did see some stuff about an electromagnetic solenoid. It is really far from the governor lever, I don't know if it will have the power to pull it out of wide open.

Reply:Thanks tons. I am going to put 12v on the solenoid and see if it pulls it over or not. And do you know if I need a stator or not.
Reply:Don't know about your 7 but on my 9 w/ the onan the stator on the engine charges the batt. If yours needs one and is hard to find I don't see why a small batt charger couldn't be incorporated to run off the 110v of the welder. Maybe on the side of the welder tin w/ some sheet metal to keep the weather off it.  BTW, Duane is our resident small engine and portable welder man here. Reply:Thanks buddy. It turns out it does need one its not to bad $6 plus shipping and tax. Now my new problem is a vary slow crank. Any ideas.
Reply:Load test batt, check all start circuit connections including ground. W/ jumper cables go directly to starter w/ both cables. If it still wont crank fast then  disassemble starter to check brushes and commutator. If OK put some grease in both end bushings, reassemble and try again. Also look close  at ring gear and starter bendix gear. Reply:Ok cool I will try and see what happens. The gear is new. I do think its the solenoid, seems to be a lot of build up on it going to clean it all up. Hope its easy, can't wait to start welding!!!!
Reply:Should I take apart the starter or us there other things I could check before.  Is there a way to test the solenoid for the starter.

Reply:No but I was using a different battery to test with. I ordered a new starter, solenoid, stator and regulator. I took the whole thing apart and I am cleaning everything and replacing all the connections. I am sending the idle/charge board to get rebuilt. I have about a week till everything gets back so I should be up and running in a week or so.If you don't know where your going, any road will get you there.             Not sure who said it, but I love it.
