Want to buy a Thermal Arc 185. Live about 40 miles N. of Atlanta, Georgia, and wouldn't mind driving a few hours to get one, or would pay to ship. Have money in hand. I doubt any of y'all will let your machine go, but on the off chance somebody knew someone wanting to get rid of one to upgrade, I figure it is worth a shot. Thanks.Who is John Galt?
Reply:I was looking for a good-condition used one of these for awhile. They sell quickly! on rare occasion, they come up on ebay. I saw more on Craigslist, but agai, they sell fast! Also search for a Pro Wave 185. that's what it used to be called by thermal arc. it is basically the same machine, but they changed the airflow design in side the unit and maybe some other stuff, too.

Reply:Hello bassboy1, you may have another alternative to those you have already considered. If you have a Reddiarc or other welding equipment/machine rental outfit in your area you should consider seeing if they have any of their machines that they are ready to turn-over. Depending on who is close to you, you can often buy their phase-outs for approx. 1/2 the price of new and they are usually in pretty good shape since they have usually had good servicing on a regular basis, at least this has been the case in my area. I have bought a couple of my personal machines in this manner, one was a TA GTS190 and the other was an LN-25 suitcase feeder. They were both half of the new cost and both machines were only a couple of years old. Just a bit more for your consideration. Best regards, Allanaevald
