We are looking to qualify an new procedure to run dual shield for ASME code work. Looking for suggestions on a the specific make and model of the wire that people like for this type of application. There is quite a few to choose from. The procedure will be qualified with a 3/8th patch, open root. We refer to it as "full penetration weld".Thanks
Reply:I qualified with ESAB Dual Shied 7100Disclaimer; "I am just an a$$hole welder, don't take it personally ."
Reply:Lincoln Outershield 71 Elite.
Reply:either one of those is a good choiceVantage 500's LN-25's, VI-400's, cobramatics, Miller migs, synch 350 LX, Powcon inverters, XMT's, 250 Ton Acurrpress 12' brake, 1/4" 10' Atlantic shear,Koikie plasma table W/ esab plasmas. marvel & hyd-mech saws, pirrana & metal muncher punches.
Reply:Even though I qualified with the ESAB 7100 my papers say AWS class E71T-1, so I use Hobart Excel Arc 71 because I like the way it runs better.Disclaimer; "I am just an a$$hole welder, don't take it personally ."
Reply:been switching every other roll between Excel Arc 71 and Lincoln outer shield 71 for years because I can't make up my mind which I like better.
Reply:Kobelco Familiarc DW-50 ASME SFA-5.20 E71T-12MJ H8. I run it at 27 volts and 350 imp. in all positions with 45cfh C25 gass.
Reply:Thanks for the input! We got a spool of 7100 ultra. Seems to be the most recommended.
Reply:I by far like the kobelco brand of wire the best. We use the frontiarc-711 wire and it produces the least amount of spatter of the other brands I've used (Lincoln, esab, Hobart) and welds great.Lincoln Idealarc Tig 300/300, Lincoln ranger 8, Lincoln LN-25, Miller Sidekick (keeps rockin!), Oxy/Acy torch, Miller XMT-304 with a Miller 60 series wire feeder and high freq. box, Profax positioner 8" chuck, Aaronson 3500# positioner 15" chuck
Reply:7100 ultra was my favorite dual shield wire. That stuff runs like butter.Ya gotta spend money to make money! |
