We had a ladder bracket break on one of our fire trucks. The department replaced it so I got to take home the broken one and play with it. It was a cast aluminum covered in chrome. I put a V in the crack, sanded back the chrome. Pre heated it and then wire brushed the crap out of it. I would run about an inch or so bead then wire brush some more. Machine settings were set at the max on the Dynasty. AC balance at 65 and frequency was at 120. Seemed like I was getting a good puddle and penetration all the way through.
