I have an old Idealarc 250 welder and would like to convert it to a TIG, I've heard of people doing this, but I'm not sure exactly what all I would need. Has anyone in this forum done this, and know what's needed? I've thought about just biting the bullet and buying new, but, this old welder is one helluva machine with total reliability for 30+ yrs. and I hate to get rid of it!
Reply:You mainly just need a hi-freq box, a torch (air cooled is the simplest), and a tank of 100% argon. The connectors can get a bit tricky, but once you have the three things above, you are 90% there.Smithboy...if it ain't broke, you ain't tryin'.
Reply:This may be what you are looking for. TIGDepot sells a conversion kit to add TIG to a standard arc welder:http://tigdepot.com/products/p35TD-BBTF.htm |
