I have heard these last forever. I seen a Craigslist ad for one asking 200. Should I jump on it at that price
Reply:That's a decent price if it's not all beat up - in my opinion. It depends on how you plan to use it though - they are fine for hobby type use, but don't have very many amps on the DC side.I bought an AC/DC Dialarc 250 for $225 without cables. Much more machine for about the same money.Dave J.Beware of false knowledge; it is more dangerous than ignorance. ~George Bernard Shaw~ Syncro 350Invertec v250-sThermal Arc 161 and 300MM210DialarcTried being normal once, didn't take....I think it was a Tuesday.
Reply:In my garage. Maybe trailer repair and hobby stuff as needed. Nothing thicker than 1/4 inch that I could think of.
Reply:depends on the condition, check prices at home depot for brand new and then decide....always go and bring cash and offer a less price..make a $125.oo cash offer in front of the person and see if they will take it..the welder will last you a lifetime...Of all the things I lost I miss my mind the most...I know just enough about everything to be dangerous......You cant cure stupid..only kill it...

Reply:A Lincoln, Miller, Hobart AC/DC (take your pick) would probably cost at least $450 NEW, as a comparison.Last edited by wayne55; 06-01-2015 at 02:17 PM.
Reply:$200. is OK for an AC/DC if it all works (fan, diodes, switches). New ones are pricy. As mentioned, you can sometimes get an Idealarc or Dialarc 250 for less than $400. IF you have a big enough breaker to run one. Just make sure it is AC/DC. I've seen some AC-only advertized as AC/DC because the seller didn't know squat. Just saw a description on the first picture that popped up and priced accordingly. OK - saw the ad - it's AC/DC. Doesn't look too bad, if the leads are in good shape."USMCPOP" First-born son: KIA Iraq 1/26/05Syncrowave 250 w/ Coolmate 3Dialarc 250, Idealarc 250SP-175 +Firepower TIG 160S (gave the TA 161 STL to the son)Lincwelder AC180C (1952)Victor & Smith O/A torchesMiller spot welder
Reply:They are a good value in AC/DC for $200 if in good condition. I got one a year ago for that in mint condition. 125 amps in DC is enough for most anything. Any more than that and you will need some big rods.Miller Millermatic 252Miller Syncrowave 200Liincoln AC-DC 225Victor O-A Set |
