Very excited, right outside bejing! at the Shang Yuan MuseumDecided on bringing a small rig to there, because I will have no idea how to decide on purchasing quality stuff while there.Got a MAX STAR STH 150 and a THERMAL ARC 95 ( got free with plasma)votes on which to take ( id love to take a miller multi 200 mig, but i cant drop 3 gs like that) ( feel like finding stick rod will be easier that sourcing mig wire of quality as well as gas, are those threads international btw just curious)so.pros for the thermal arc - Got it free , can leave it behind if need be, not worried if stolen broken whatever, will this thing be able to hold up to some decent welding of round bar 3/8? 1/4 ?pros for the max star. - little monster, I know its strong, but Its pricey, and I would need to send it back after I start backpacking around. proven usage. so basically, how decent is the TA -95/?PLEASE help me decide , im so confused, between the 10 different vaccines and visa stuff I need, someone share their wisdom thanks.Leaving very soon ./Also if anyone has contacts over there, please lets talk!I am a very friendly artist, open minded guy, young travel lover, and tinkerer of sorts!
Reply:I'd look 1st at what power is available and then look and see which machine will handle the available power. What process do you plan to run, stick or tig? The TA will handle that material in stick, but solid welds in tig will be iffy at best for critical welds. If we are just talking about gluing metal together, either will work fine..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear.
