got tired of keeping my longer pieces of steel on the floor along the wall so I built a rack to keep it in. right now it has 10 pieces of 1"square tubing 8'long,10 pieces of 1/8 x 1 1/2" 8' and 5 pieces of 1/2"round stock 8' long. I am going to add a couple more layers later. Lincoln 225 ac (my first machine)farmhand 115vac 70amp mig/fc toymiller aead 200le (my main machine)
Reply:That will work. You gonna add wheels ?  Any dividers to separate sizes or types ?  If you have room you could even store 8' pieces vertical at a wall.
Reply:fdude,You might consider some kind of bracing, like diagonals on ends and sides or whatever will fit your plans.  The way that's built, a good hit on the sides and it will fold like a bad poker hand.
Reply:yes I do plan on bracing it all 4 waysLincoln 225 ac (my first machine)farmhand 115vac 70amp mig/fc toymiller aead 200le (my main machine)
Reply:I  got my short steel on a tote/water container cage. The kind that has the pallet made on the bottom. It works good.Miller trailblazer301gLincoln sa200Miller251Miller spectrum 625Victor oxy-acc2002 Chevy duramax 3500 dually 4x4

Reply:I just finished a stock rack last week. It is made from six sections of stackable racking bolted about 6' apart and mounted on hard wheels. It's for my 10' stock and one man can move it pretty easily.
