I have a weld-pak 100 welder (m16930-1) that i am trying to convert to gas using the gas conversion kit.(k610-0). the instructions tell me to "loosen the set screw located in the brass connector at the wire feed end of the cable. pull the liner out of the cable."i cannot locate the set screw and it appears that my unit does not have one, subsequently, the liner cannot be replacedmy cable reads ml100, but also contains markings reading "spenco 7/98".can you tell me how to get the liner out?? Reply:Dumb question, but have you disconnected the torch cable from the welder? On both my Lincolns (Weld-Pak 155 & Pro-Mig 175) there is a thumb screw in the inside of the unit, on top of the wire feeder that has to be loosened. Then the cable assembly can be removed from the welder. The small set screw is on the brass end that pushed into the welder case.There are no small projects
Reply:Not a dumb question at all. I know the thumbscrew you are talking about, and once that is loosened up, can the whole rubber boot and cable assembly just be yanked out??Call me stupid, but it never occurred to me that the cable came out in such a fashion. (nor do the instructions say it either)Thanks. If it wasn't 10:00 PM, I'd run out and try it right now.
Reply:Yup, it just pulls out once the thumb screw is loosened. There are rubber O-rings on the brass fitting to make it airtight, so it might take a bit of twisting to remove it the 1st time. Reply:loosen screw behind cover, unplug the two small electrical spade connectors, and twist/pull the base of the cable out. |
