So I just got my Miller 211 from a LWS nearby and need a flexible mig gun tip for doing the exhaust on my car. What should I buy?
Reply:If you mean the gooseneck I doubt you will find a flexible one.

Reply:Its htp. They make good stuff.
Reply:I have one of HTP "Miller" flex neck guns. The build quality is pretty good. The lead is very flexible. The only negative I have so far is that as it comes set up from HTP. the contact tip is recessed back in the nozzle a good 1/8"+. You don't want this configuration for short circuit transfer. Not a big deal though, I shortened the length of the nozzle until the contact tip was extending slightly past the end of the nozzle. On Binzel style nozzle on the HTP gun I shortened the nozzle by removing matter from the back end of the nozzle. From the factory the liner in my gun had been cut to short. HTP sent to me a new replacement liner for free.BTW, on the gun that Miller supplies with your MM 211, I'd shortened the nozzle length an 1/8"  by removing material from the exit end of the nozzle and the re-tapper the nozzle. I do this on my bench top metal lathe, but it could easily be done with a belt sander or disc sander instead.ESAB Migmaster 250 Hobart Ironman 230Multimatic 215TWECO Fabricator 181i & 211iHH125EZ - nice little fluxcore only unitMaxstar 150 STH - very nice

Reply:That's an absolutely adorable little MIG gun.   I'm kind of surprised it comes in another color besides Pink.

Reply:Better gas coverage if running spray transfer or dual-shield. Few advantages for short-arc MIG.A few weldersA lot of hammersA whole lot of C-clamps
Reply:I don't think having it recessed 1/8" for short circuit transfer hurts anything and there's no need to cut your nozzles down. Better gas coverage is better gas coverage isn't it?
Reply:I'm trying to decide if I should do the recessed tip mod but how would one recess the tip? Is there a write up on it or could one of you guys explain in detail what to do?

Reply:Recessed tip was the standard for many years. I think only on rare occasions would having the tip recessed cause problems.
Reply:Apierce, the recessed tip isn't a mod, recessed tips and flush tips are used in different applications. For short circuit like you are doing, stick with a flush tip for better stickout otherwise you might find you're not getting the penetration you should be. For spray or where long stickout is appropriate, use the recessed tip.Jody has some videos on this on weldingtipsandtricks. My first cheapo craftsman/century MIG welder came standard with a recessed tip. I never got decent welds out of it until I started cutting off the end of the nozzles to make them flush.
Reply:I have been using Binzel flex nozzle MIG guns since the late 1990's.  Great durability of all parts and the lead is quite flexible too.
Reply:If you are new to welding better to have a recessed tip because you will not be short circuiting the torch on your work as you weld, especially out of position welding. Sent from my SGH-I747M using Tapatalk

Reply:Ive got a 12' bernard 150A Q gun i bought directly from one of the welding suppliers online (can't remember which) for the MM211 and i love it. Paid around $170. Wouldn't go longer than 12' though personally.
