I'm seeing more of this Blue Demon brand of wire and electrodes online. Prices are good, I'm wondering if the product is any good? Anybody know where it's made?Right now I run Lincoln for stick and Hobart for wire, no complaints with either, they are what is stocked locally for the best prices.Mr. HE
Reply:I noticed it too and was about to ask the same thing. Also I have seen hardfacing FCAW made by them, I have never seen hardfacing wire smaller than .045". But these guys have FCAW and GMAW .035".Any one ever run FCAW .035 hardfacing wire?

Reply:I was given some 3/32" 7018, and I thought it was the worst s**t I've ever ran. I tend to have a gentle strike, more of a tap, and these required a harder strike. I sent some to CEP, and he said they ran fine for him. However, he is much more experienced than I am, so you might want to try some. I like McKay, Atom Arc, Lincoln and Hobart, and never had the striking problems with those."Where's Stick man????????" - 7A749"SHHHHHH!! I sent him over to snag that MIC-4 while tbone wasn't looking!" - duaneb55"I have bought a few of Tbone's things unlike Stick-Man who helps himself" - TozziWelding"Stick-man"
Reply:I bought a 50lb box of 6013 from amazon for 70 bucks with free shipping but got cold feet and cancelled the order after not finding much feed back on Blue Demon. Even for the price I didn't want take a gable with having 50lbs of scrap.

Reply:I believe Hobart made the Blue Demon Rods ,at least a few years ago anyway. My LWS carries it in 5 and 10 pound packs and the 8 inch spools of 70s6 . I use the wire with co2 in my 181I and use Esab wire with 75-25 in my other feeders so I cant give a fair comparison but it seems to work better than some other brands I have used. The rods seem to work as well as most others .Miller xmt304,  Miller S22 p12, Miier Maxstar SD, Miller 252 w 30A, Miller super32p12, Lincoln Ranger 9, Thermal Arc 181I with spoolgun, Hypertherm 10000 ,Smith torches. Esab 161lts miniarc.
Reply:I've used the .030 flux core wire, its worked god for me.
Reply:I have used their stick electrodes 1/8" 7018 and they ran identical to lincoln stuff I usually use. I used them on a winch bumper build and tandem bumper pull car trailer repair.Ranger 250 thick stuffHobart Handler 140 not thick stuffthe pane and oxy setup
Reply:Blue Demon's an ok rod, it'll never compare to Excalibur or Atom Arc.  I do like it in 1/16" 6013 for exhaust and sheetmetal though. If you're ok running Hobart sticks, you may not notice much difference.  And it is made in the US.Lincoln SA 200Esab Caddy 160Thermal Arc 201TSMiller Dialarc HFI don't like making plans for the day because then the word "premeditated" gets thrown around the courtroom....
