Milwaukee 6180-20 vs DeWalt D287-15

I'm looking to buy a chop saw for my home shop. I've narrowed it down to the Milwaukee 6180-20 or the DeWalt D287-15. Both are right about $200 shipped to my door.Do any of you folks have any experience or preference with either.Thanks in advance,Wayne
Reply:Have personally used the Dewalt. Great saw. Glad to see Millwki. finally got their heads outta their arses and went with the d-handle. One thing that can be a make or break, IMHO, is the clamp quick release. Dewalt's is quick. Can't say regarding the Millwki.. Maybe check to see if both can be warranty serviced locally. Reply:I have rigids now but Milwaukee's are the next best (IMO).The D-handles are betterer too.The Dewalt's seem to take longer to spin up & I've had terrible personal luck with Dewalt tools over the years. (Except for my sawzall, it's been great).Buy American, or don't whine when you end up on the bread line.

Reply:I have the Milwaukee. It's a really nice chop saw. I've used it and some of the Dewalts (not sure of the exact numbers, but they had tool-less angle changing, etc) and both worked very well. Reply:Not sure what you're cutting, but I'd take a portaband over an abrasive saw any day of the week.Personally if you're going to consider the portaband I like the dewalts better.  I got the deep cut; the HD .025 blades, sight light and speed control were deal breakers that the milwaukee didn't have.
