Im planning to buy a tig welder soon just for hobby use. I know the Htp has a couple more features, and a better duty cycle. They both have a three year warranty. Miller has great customer service, and i have three dealers locally. Which one would you choose?
Reply:HTP has really good customer service in fact HTP's president was in one of Lanse's videos but bewteen the two machines I would go with the HTP because its lighter and smaller. Are you going to be doing any stick welding? if the answer is yes I would choose the Miller.Lincoln pro core 125 14''chop saw7 inch grinder,2-4.5 inch grinders, electric die grinder.Half inch drillAnd alot of hand tools
Reply:They both have great CS I hear. NOTHING beats Millers service however. The only other factor is resale value which will be much higher on a Miller than any other machine. So if you expect to keep your welder for a long time, it shouldn't matter.TA Arcmaster 300CM3XMT 304S22P12 suitcase feederX-Treme 12VSOptima pulserTA161SMaxstar 150STLHypertherm PM45OP setupStihl 020AVP, 039, 066 Magnum
Reply:They are both verygood welders and about the same money. HTP has more settings but the Miller can be upgraded and you have Miller dealers close so I would lean that way.www.georgesplasmacuttershop.comPlasma Cutter and Welder Sales and Repairs--Ebay storeTec.Mo. Reply:I love my HTP Invertig221. Even though Miller is still pretty much the industry standard, can't beat the value dollar-for-dollar on the Invertig221. 1st on WeldingWeb to have a scrolling sig! Reply:I'm a MILLER guy since all we use now are MILLERS so I vote for the 210. When my 180 SD dies the 210 will fill the void. . I would buy local as my first choice. Get a package deal on welder , tank ,or tanks, and any other goodies you'll need. If you can swing the CASH buy as a package purchase. Get a price and then ask how much for cash. When I bought my MILLER 211 supplier knocked off another $30.00 for cash. I don't know pricing in your area but it can vary, especially on tank pricing and refilling cost.'' Weldermike '' has a post on the 210 which has his approval.
Reply:Great machine, I have zero complaints about it. Don't let the duty cycle scare you either. With a air cooled torch this machine will have you saying uncle befor the machine shuts down. Iv'e pushed it and put it to the test to see what she'll take. Machine wins everytime. The fan hardly comes on and never runs for that long, even when putting the boots to it. Very crisp clean arc and very responsive to moving your puddle around. I'm not a gadget guy by any means, so a dynasty for me was out of the question. This machine was a perfect balance for me and very affordable. I feel you get a lot more out of it then what you paid for it with excellent customer service from miller as usual. Reply:The two welders first mentioned are totally different, as in, one is 100dreds of lbs lighter. If you need portability, you should be choosing between the htp 221 and the 200dx.Do you need portability? I've heard nothing but good from htp, and I've added to it.Nobody seems to be jumping up and down for the htp 221 yet. But, they are new, they will take some time to fit in, just like every other welder.~John
Reply:Having had an HTP 221 for 2 yrs. now I totally happy and impressed with the 221. HTP's customer service is second to none also!

Reply:Thanks for the input guys. I will most likely go with the miller. The size of the machine does not bother me if i did get the htp it would end up on a cart anyway.
Reply:I too own a htp 221. I am also just a hobbyist welder. I have however used the snot out of mine so far with building a new stand and smoker and some other various projects. I think it is a great welder. I have also ran a decent amount of stick on it with no problems. On the other hand, I've burnt a lot of rod on Miller machines. Hard to complain about a Miller. My choice was based on the size and weight of the htp. My shop is my in use home garage. Space is limited therefore I decided on am inverter machine. To me the htp was a lot better value versus the Miller dynasty which is a better comparison of machines. Not knocking the dynasty, but the htp comes with all your accessories and runs at 220 amps. Sorry to be long winded and throw a different machine in the conversation. Imho, you need to decide if you want a portable space saving welder or a stationary unit, then decide between comparable machines. Good luck, many decisions to make.
Reply:I still don't understand why a 210 amp inverter needs to weigh 133#.
Reply:The syncrowave models are transformer welders not inverters.
Reply:The 210 is an inverter.
Reply:Originally Posted by BaspronickThe syncrowave models are transformer welders not inverters.
Reply:The Syncrowave 210 is an inverter but it's built into a roll-around case which makes it larger and heavier.A few weldersA lot of hammersA whole lot of C-clamps
Reply:Oops. Didn't realize that. I stand corrected. Also listed as inverter "based" technology. Has to be a respectable sized transformer in there to be that large and heavy.
Reply:The 210 at 133 pounds is a 40 pound one on steroids or that 40 pound one is 94 pounds short of being a real machine.
Reply:The 210 has a big storage bin as well. Everything for the machine comes in it. Foot pedal, leads, regulator and torch. I think they weighed it fully loaded because it is'nt heavy at all.I hate being bi-polar it's awsomeMy Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys
Reply:I was in the same boat and I almost ordered the 210 but then a couple things happened, first I called HTP to inquire about an order I had placed. While talking to the rep I asked him about the 221 and he informed me that they would extend the black Friday deal to me ($2295 + $100 free accessories) but it would be March before they got any in. Still worried about things like resale value I had to think about it ( never seen one for resale). Then a 201 came up on the 'bay, it sold for $2128+ shipping! Put 10% down and my 221 will be here in March.

Reply:They are only sold through one place. Htp America in Elk Grove Village Illinois, or their website usaweld.com. That is one frustrating thing is that they don't keep them in Stock. Could mean they sell a ton of them I don't know. I was able to get them to throw in a bunch of filler, Tungsten, gas lense kit, 25' torch upgrade since I had just missed the black Friday sale 2 years ago.
Reply:I was wondering the same thing. not in market for another tig but look now and again, used to work with a guy who did a lot of car and bike fab. he had a htp201 and loved it, I went with a friend to htp s office years ago, he was looking for a new rig they used to have demo models at shop, maybe still do met jeff the owner of htp real nice guy. my friend died before buying a new machine but it was a nice setup and I have a dyn. also before that I called on a sat. or sun. to see what there hours were so I could order a catalog {before internet} I hung up on answering machine when it picked up, within 5min. jeff the owner called me back {caller id I guess} to see if I had a issue with a machine or question, took my info. and sent me a catalog long story short heard nothing but good about htp, the verdict is still out on the millers in my opinion had issues with a few of their machines and not nit pick problems lots people same thing same machines, now I would go with htp or Lincoln pt225 {pt225 is much nicer than sycro200 ive used both} or you could do like at work the minute it breaks through it away cheaper then men standing around.they were pretty smart and ran their "black friday" sale all through mid-october until black friday. total of $300 savings, and the only time of the year the machine is on sale. I would bet they sold a few hundred of them. 1st on WeldingWeb to have a scrolling sig!
