Got myself a tig setup a few days ago and im not sure what im doing wrong my beads are looking like crap and im getting this yellowing residue oh and my tungsten will run fine for a few second then completely shoot an arc in every direction i thought the residue was from not enough argon so ive been playing the pressure but getting same result ive clean the crap out of the steel tried new tungsten if anyone can enlighten me PLEEASE!!!!machine is miller xmt 304 (DCEN) aRGON: 10-20 filler rod ER70S-2
Reply:Are you SURE its on straight polarity? If it is the it has to be a shielding problem. Is it pure argon or a mig mix? Can you hear/feel argon flowing through the cup? Have a short stickout/arc length? Check everywhere that the argon flows for leaks. Every connection and every hose, use a little soapy water.Grind the steel clean before tig welding. Welding dirty steel is just going to make problems harder to find.Airco Ac/Dc 300 HeliwelderMillerMatic 200 (stolen)Miller Maxstar 150STLMiller AEAD200LE (welding and generating power) Hobart MIG
