Hopefully this works better...I had to convert the image to jpgCurious what kind of welder this is and it's value in decent shape?  I know it's not the best picThanks Attached Images

Reply:All guesswork on my part. The engine appears to be a 2 cyl Wisconsin and unless it's had a DuPont overhaul it's a Lincoln. I'm curious what the belt drive? on the end of the crankshaft is for.                                                          MikeOl' Stonebreaker  "Experience is the name everyone gives to their mistakes"Hobart G-213 portableMiller 175 migMiller thunderbolt ac/dc stick Victor O/A setupMakita chop saw
Reply:I noticed the belt too, not sure?  Could it be some sore of generator/alternator?  Anyone out there own one of these or ever welded with one?  Not seeing a whole lot on eBay right nowIt's up for auction - not sure if I'm interested or not.....it appears to be in good cosmetic condition.....as far as mechanically, who knows....is that a stock muffler?  Looks like something from a hit and miss engine??Thanks for the info
Reply:I would  love to see a close up of the belt drive starter,as I have one just like it and I"m getting to old to hand crank it anymore. Yes from the looks of it , that's a sa 180 with a Wisconsin 2 cyl. of about 14 to 16 horses.
Reply:Backhoe, Starter!  That's interesting....must have been an add on/option, eh?Do you like it?  Nice arc?  Parts availbility?Any idea what they are worth?
Reply:Well I"m thinking starter other wise you have to hand crank it like I do. Yes it welds great for what it is,just old school is all. I use it around the neighbor for some farmer friends repair jobs, just a sideline. I have ordered a fuel pump off the internet and the throttle cable ,don"t know what all is actually out there, good luck but if you like old stuff you"ll like it.

Reply:I had that exact motor on an old hobart welder, but the rear housing was more square. pretty sure it was a 5kw generator, 250ish welding amps.
Reply:I wouldn't give more than $200.Running or not.Just a couple welders, big hammers, grinders, and torches.Work will free you.Men in dirty jeans built this country, while men in clean suits have destroyed it. Trump/Carson 2016-2024
Reply:This one sold recently on ebay looks similar but without the generator/starter arrangement.http://www.ebay.com/itm/GAS-POWERED-...-/171258905011
Reply:Thanks for doing the research!  I always forget about looking at sold items
Reply:Just curious - you don't like because of it being obsolete technology?  Performance? Thanks

Reply:This is a 180 DC AS Lincoln, smaller version of th sa 200. I have  a similar version except my electric start is factory on the fly wheel, three power ranges via cable lugs and using a locking throttle . Very desirable arc qualities just like the old sa machines . Not a real pro machine, dc only, no power outlets, just older technology, all in all I think they are really great welders . My mag coil is bad so it is currently not running when I get back around to in it will be a complete restore. 3 to 500 is probably all they are really worth dollar wise. Good luck.
