Reply:The Lincoln 250BT was sold in Australia from some time in the latter 50s to around the mid 60s+, they would in my opinion, have been the most popular farm welder ever produced, there are still many in use to-day. They were replaced by the Tractapac, which remained in production until quite recently, its main improvement being the 240 volt power outlet. The 250BT, provided 40-250 amps welding current, 32 volt power, it ran at2,500 RPM and required 23 HP to drive them. Many were trailer mounted and PTO driven, or side mounted and driven by thebelt pulley, others used an old car engine as a power unit. I can remember when it was my main ambition to own a 250BT, as it worked out the first welder I owned was a Tractapac driven by an FE Holden engine,as the engine wore out I converted it to PTO drive. |
