TIG torch to cure powder coat?

I make welded sculpture far too large to put in a powder coat oven, but I would like to get a little bit of powder coating color here and there.  I wonder if anyone has tried or has any thoughts about using a TIG torch to heat the metal from the backside, around the edges or whatever. I can certainly see some problems with this, but it doesn't mean they can't be solved by a bunch of smart guys. Thanks Larry

Reply:Krylon came out with a new paint. It's called "Dual". It combines both primer and paint in the same can. It has the appearance of powder coat but is not as durable, of course. I've done lots of powder coat in my homemade 2' X 3' X 6' powder coat oven. As you may know, it takes at least 350 to 375 deg. F. for about 15 minutes to cure. Instead of a TIG torch, you could use a heat lamp for 15-20 minutes to get the powder to cure. Reply:I think you're right. Either a propane torch or a radiant heater would work better. I have a couple of 1500 W radiant heaters that would probably do the job. Thanks for the guidance.Larry
