How does this welder differ form the 175 plus welder? Has anyone used this welder yet? From what little I can find it is spool gun ready but am not sure what else makes it better. Just looking for added information about this welder any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Reply:Clay,Thank you for the site. Good information but will wait till more people get the product and test it before making a decision.
Reply:The welder has a completely different wire drive system. From the pics I have seen it looks really good. Spoolgun enabled. I am sure they changed something in the electrical department. Other than that we will have to wait and see.

Reply:I bought a 180C a couple of weeks ago, and I am very happy with it.As other reply notes, it has a much improved wire drive system from earlier models...all metal, more rugged. The salesman at the welding shop pointed out serveral other internal improvements from the previous 175 models. Convinced me it was worth the extra $ to move up to the new design. I don't think you can go wrong with this machine! I initially ran the spool of .025 wire that came with the unit, but I have since switched to the .030 wire, and I think it works better (the thinner wire tended to sometimes slip on the rollers...)
Reply:I got one last week, used it once and now its going back for a replacement. The motor or something was making an awful racket so they are sending me a new machine, I guess just some sort of defect. Other than that it welded like a dream. Chuck
Reply:I heard about the 180C and was convinced I should go out to the shop and smash my Red SP 175 plus. When I got out there, I picked up a hammer and......and......then set it down. I thought, Heck, the durn thing's done everything I ever needed. So I went back in the house and forgot about it. LOLSometimes, keepin' what you have is better than changing for something else that someone says is better. The Best is the enemy of the Good.
