Need SA-200 info

How do you disconnect the engine from the generator? I have the engine almost apart, but am not sure how to disconnect it from the gen shaft. Thanks,Slag man
Reply:Take off the cap at the end of the housing then remove the nut and washer at the end of the armature housing and the I believe 6 bolts that connect the housing to the motor. If they are still in the frame you have to loose and remove the bolts that are on the armature housing and frame. Then prop up the motor and with a hoist chained onto the armature housing, raise and pull apart(easy). Make sure all the brushes are out of the holders. Does this help any?
Reply:With the housing off you remove the bolts on the armature fan. remove the fan, get a good grip and onto the armature and turn it either dirct. but hold on tight because its very "heavy"(5o to 80) pounds. call me 817*829*4622 if you need more help
Reply:After looking the thing over, i thought that I might have to pull the armature from it's case in order to clear the bolts, but was unsure. Now I have a much better idea of how to proceed. Thank You very much for your help,Alan
Reply:After you get the bolts out, if I'm not mistaken the armature and engine have a sort of lock to hold them together. I don't remember which way to turn the armature but the motor has to be held solid and the other turned in order of it to come loose. good luck.
Reply:I found that out today as I fought to get the thing apart, but as things go, the engine slipped sideways and the thing just fell apart. All I need now is to get the right size socket to fit the cam gear and I will be able to get the crank and cam out. The bearings and crank are in super good shape, so at least I don't have to get the crank truned. Would you know where I might be able to find new head bolts? The ones I pulled and did not break, look like crap and need to be replaced.Thanks,Alan
