I make furniture out of old farm implement parts, 'T' posts, and stock (pencil) rod sized 1/4 - 3/4"...currently, I tack it with my Tombstone then take it to my neighbor's house and use his 3 phase Miller 425 (i think) w/ gas bc it makes for much easier/cleaner and more esthetically (sp) pleasing welds...I want to do everything "in house".... I have both 220/110 service and want to spend $800 - $1200 on my own set up (I might could go a bit higher)...It's all "mild steel" and the heaviest table top would weigh no more than 300# (if there's a 200# chick dancin' on it)...I'm not sure what else you cats need to know to help me....thanks in advance,TUSK
Reply:NEATO !!! Post some picks of your creations. It great to recycle metal and create artwork from them. I did use a bunch of the rotary hoe discs as flowers and some of the radius arc pieces for fins on a fish bird feeder. Here's the Miller info I posted on your other thread. Great deal ! There's lots of info on the 211 posted by members here if you want to do a search. Miller has a FREE SPOOLGUN with purchase of their 211 plus a rebate . Many posts about this machine.http://www.millerwelds.com/pdf/Spoolmate_RebateFlye.pdf http://www.millerwelds.com/landing/b...content=online
Reply:I agree something like Millers MM211, Hobarts HH210 or even Lincolns 210MP would all work well for what you want and be in the right ball park. The Lincoln would have the advantage of later allowing you to tig weld if you wanted which may be an advantage with small materials where you don't want the welds to show too much. However the Miller and Hobart's are both solid proven machines. You definitely want to stay 230v for the power..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Actually, a government bureau is the nearest thing to eternal life we'll ever see on this earth! Ronald Reagan
Reply:like the said tusk, people like pics, there worth a thousand words, and what his reasoning for tig capability on the lincoln sounds tempting. maybe roll that table out front of your place, w/ one of them 100lb cheerleaders on it to drum up some business |
