I recently bought the Lincoln Pro Mig 140 at Lowes. After reading some more on the board, I discovered that it is thought that the Lowes and HD model Lincoln Welders are made to a lower standard than the Lincolns bought say at a Welder Dealer that carries Lincolns. How true is this? Also, is say the Hobart Handler 140 rated industrial or the same quality as the supposed Lowes and HD Lincoln Welders? ThanksWhitey
Reply:I suppose you'd need to find a couple of guys who agree on what an "industrial" welder really is.In my opinion, an industrial welder is bulletproof and needs a 100% duty cycle so you can weld constantly. You can't afford (well, I can't) and you don't need (well, I don't) an industrial welder.Have fun with what you have and someday you'll probably want to step up to something else.Enjoy and post some project pictures soon!***************************************Lincoln AC225 stick welderLincoln HD100 WeldPak flux core wire feed welderThree of the cheapest grinders money can buy |
