Does anybody have any experience with Pipeliner 16P / 7016?Is it good enough to be the all-in-one rod?Lincoln Weldanpower A/C 225 D/C 210 /6kw auxiliary (code 9113 & 9108)Lincoln Weld Pak 100 MigMiller Maxstar 150 TigLincoln Scratch Tig 200 ampMiller 8-VS Suitcase Flux CoreHypertherm Powermax 30Victor Torches / Regulators
Reply:I dont know anything about the Pipeliner 16P 7016. In the early 1970s I was installing all the equipment in a sewage treatment plate. Started out welding all overhead, 1-inch thick plates to embedded plates in concrete. All the company had was 7016. I thought I was seeing things, never heard of 7016 before. It really made a nice looking weld, looked almost like stainless steel. Almost a chrome look to it.Dont pay any attention to meIm just a hobbyist!CarlDynasty 300V350-Pro w/pulseSG Spool gun1937 IdealArc-300PowerArc 200ST3 SA-200sVantage 400
Reply:I have a few pounds of 3/32 7016 that I like to use on sheet metal, seems to be much harder to burn through than with 7018. 7016 is is still a low-hy, but with no iron powder in the flux, giving it a slightly lower deposition rate than 7018. Why I find it better for thin stuff than 7018, I don't know.....
Reply:Here is the link to Lincoln's website on this rod. http://www.lincolnelectric.com/asset...16P/c11007.pdfThey list as key features of this rod as root pass, hot, fill and cap... As a low hydrogen I wonder if it has the moisture issues 7018 has. I haven't found any info on that. I'm going to have to find some of this...Lincoln Weldanpower A/C 225 D/C 210 /6kw auxiliary (code 9113 & 9108)Lincoln Weld Pak 100 MigMiller Maxstar 150 TigLincoln Scratch Tig 200 ampMiller 8-VS Suitcase Flux CoreHypertherm Powermax 30Victor Torches / Regulators
Reply:i don't know if this counts, but i used to use 10016-D2. I wasn't using it anything formal. It was back in the late 80s early 90s, when i barely knew what was going on. A local Ag weld shop bought a ton of it, surplus like. When I asked to buy x amount of 7018, they handed us this 10016. So every farmer in the community was using this stuff. Never really pre heated anything, and never really had any cracks due to its 100 , that i knew of. It flowed/welded good. yea, i'd say its e3very bit as moisture prone as 7018
Reply:used quite a lot in Australia. in fact I was just using some this evening practicing vert up on some big 18 inch heavy pipe. You can see why I need the practice : )The big brand here is WIA 16tc. Some good info on their website I think.Anyhow, prone to porosity on starts, but produces a nice ripple and has a puddle clearer than 6013 which is why I like it. It will penetrate more than 6013, so on anything below 16/14 gauge might be a bit tricky ? I like it : ) Attached ImagesLast edited by meadow street; 07-21-2015 at 09:52 AM. |
