Lets see..I made this brand new a few years ago..Then they snapped off the journal at the shoulder so I fixed it..Then they snapped it again at the face so I fixed it...Today it's the shoulder AGAIN so I fixed it..I can do these in my Anyway....Roller..Rubber is separating on the ends from too much down pressure in the middle..Yep those are my welds from last time..Broken end..Looks like it was broken for awhile by the looks of it and it finally came apart..Wow! Isn't that swell....... as a extra added bonus they even left the bearing on the other journal for me but I 'aint taking it off..I am not doing anything to that end...Next!...zap!Last edited by zapster; 04-16-2014 at 04:03 PM.I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:OK here we go.....Again.Set it up..Center drill..Drill..1 1/2" diameter..NO pilot hole..Bore the end 2.006..Replacement journal done 2.010..Ready for heat..Next!...zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.

Reply:After threading we need a true running center so we set the compound to 29 1/2 degrees and use the special made tool for centering..Ahhhh...Nice smooth centerhole..Start to finish..FINISHED!A perfectly undetectable repair...(Where Have I Heard THAT Before)...2.437...+.006....-.000And there ya have it.6 Hours of pure fun.I get all the fun jobs.......zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.

Reply:Originally Posted by zapsterNot quite sure what you mean there Mike but this is a laminator glue roller..Sorta like a rolling squeegee and the bearings have that groove in both sides where they fit into a fixture and then they can put LOT'S of down pressure on the roller from each end.When the journals start to "Give" they just add more pressure to whatever end and eventually.........SNAP!I don't think any other bearing arrangement can be used here......zap!

You would then have a easy to replace shaft.
Reply:If you have a Dodge bearing catalogue there's pics of what I'm referring to. You'll find it in the section on conveyor pulleys. Reply:Are we gonna place bets on where it fails next time?I've worked with those style bearings before.  The machines I worked on used air cylinders to apply the down pressure.  Enough cushion that the journals didn't snap.My name's not Jim....
