I picked up a used wilton 10x16 band saw and finally got the 3 phase power wired up to test it out, it seems to run fine but I had to drain the hydrualic feed lines for the down feed and am having issues figuring out how to fill it back up. I went to a wilton sight but couldnt find anything, any advice would be great thanksDo not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.
Reply:well i figured it out, pull out the hose fitting and add oil, complicated right  sometimes Im dumber than a bag full of hammers.  To test it out decided to square up a rem I had laying around 17X2 plate of t1 no problem once I got my down feed right Attached ImagesDo not argue with an idiot. Reply:Man that's a beast!  After the test cut, looks like there's nothing it couldn't handle.  I'm sure it will give you years of great use.  I've got the 7x12 Wilton and its been great.
Reply:well after that cut and 8 cuts on 8"x2" plate the original blade is starting to cut crooked, it had a 4" section of flat teeth now much larger (still cheaper than taking it down to someone with a track torch). is there some place to get information on how much downfeed weight and blade tension to put on the blade. I also could use information on how to make a blade last as long as possible Im new to having a band saw. I dont want to run the fluid system on it yet because of the temperature and I have to move the saw outside when not using.Do not argue with an idiot. Reply:Running the fluid will do a lot to help blade life. Also, make sure the fluid is mixed right. We were going through lot of blades until we got a small hand help refractometer to ensure the fluid was correct. it is amazing how well things go when you follow the manufacturers suggestions concerning ratios
Reply:If you're gonna use it in the cold, clean the sump with good detergent, rinse well and mix up 4-6oz per gallon of ethylene glycol/water. Just keep the kids, and pets away from it and don't stick your fingers in your mouth after handling. Also if your gonna cut flame cut T-1, grind back the edges about 1/8" on the cut line or you'll be buying lots of bi-metal blades.Pressure settings are usually saw specific, maybe you could get some help from the blade seller per your saw make and model.Matt
