Hi all. I need to build a couple of these. A very simple design is just tubing and a hook to hang it from. What I am trying to figure out is how to do a spring loaded clasp that can be locked, but still easy access like on commercial ones I have seen. Have any of you designed your own? Thank you.

Reply:Here are the other things I have built for it. The trimmer racks were my first project ever, then the trailer hitch bracket, the basket I did last week, and the cooler rack just last night. Not bad for $60 worth of steel at the most and a free welder! Attached Images
Reply:That's kewel. I'm glad to see you are making them for yourself.I haven't made any but after looking at what's available I decided a long time ago I would use gravity and tubing over rod to make the holders secure. Your base material would be solid or a tubing one size smaller than your sleeve that holds your retainer. The retainer would slide down, use of gravity, to capture trimmer or edger shaft and provide mechanism for locking.life is good
Reply:Interesting. Can you draw a sketch of any sort? Thanks. |
