I am having a problem with the tip restricting after a short time of welding. I have cleaned tip ,replaced tip and checked the roller tension and coil. Any suggestions would help. Thanks
Reply:How is your liner in the gun? Make sure your gun is not coiled around itself, this can cause problems. What size wire and what is your tip size?
Reply:you can go one size tip bigger. If this solves your problem, then you are good to go. The heat can make the wire bind up in the tip, but that is usually when running much hotter than your machine can.DavidReal world weldin. When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
Reply:Hi, I have a Lincoln SP 175 plus. The only time that I've had a problem with the wire feeding is when I don't have the gun cable straight. If it has a coil in it, the wire can start to slip due to the added friction inside of the cable. Another small issue with this machine is the wingnut that they use on the threaded shaft that holds the wire roll. I use the small 2# rolls and I've found that the wingnut was either too tight or too loose. Because the portion of thread that sticks out for the wingnut is so short, I replaced the wingnut with a very thin locknut so that I could set the roll and it would maintain the proper tension. So, if you keep the cable as straight as possible and keep the tension correct on the roll, it should feed properly. Keeping the cable straight implies that the machine might have to be placed a little farther away from your work area to permit this. It also helps to keep the inner liner clean. There is a procedure mentioned in the manual for cleaning these on a periodic basis.Miller Millermatic 252Miller Syncrowave 200Liincoln AC-DC 225Victor O-A Set |
